About Phoebe

Phoebe Hofsteede is a Visual Artist, and Theraputic Art Practitioner based in Meanjin (Brisbane), Australia.

As a mixed media artist, Phoebe works mostly with portrait & landscape photography as the basis of her mixed media artworks.

Phoebe has developed her style over the last 20 years through studying Visual Arts at QUT and Photography at QCA, which provided her the ability to combine her love of collage & crafting with her photographs.

When working with mixed media, Phoebe is able to bring back a sense of craftsmanship to her work, creating unique pieces using real pressed flowers, vintage collage cuttings, paint and metallic inks - enhancing elements of surrealism, magic & mystery to her imagery. This style of working allows Phoebe to express personal reflections, old-world nostalgia and her deep love of nature.

Phoebe feels passionately about preserving the natural environment, and believes that it is our duty as humans to be the caretakers of our world & all the creatures we share it with.

As a Theraputic Art Practitioner, Phoebe loves sharing her love of healing through art. Phoebe is an advocate for mental health awareness, having experienced mental illness herself, and has always found solace in creating.
Studying a diploma in Holistic Integrated Creative Art Therapy at the Australian School of Holistic Counselling provided Phoebe further tools to understanding psychology of the human mind, and how creative expression aids the mind-body connection in order to heal physically, mentally & spiritually.
